To create an inspiring environment of celebration by connecting each one to someone through prayer, worship, and personal relationships.

To grow healthy, practicing believers by providing outlets for involving them in the work of the ministry to others.

To influence every member to walk uprightly with God through involvement with a team of others for friendship, accountability, and encouragement.

Central Baptist Church History

Central Baptist Church of Williamson County was organized on June 28, 1987. Previously, several families meeting in a home for Bible study sought God's will in beginning a new chuch in the Leander - Cedar Park area. After much prayer and godly counsel, they called Dr Wally Williams, a local resident and traveling evangelist, to be the first pastor.

Dr Williams, under the sponsorship and support of the Gilead Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan, immediately set out to find land for the future location for a new church facility. After researching the expected growth for the future, they found a purchased 5 acres of land for the future church complex on County Road 271 in the middle of nowhere. A single metal building was built that housed an auditorium and some classrooms. In December of 1994, an additional 2.6 acres was purchased to make the property a total of 7.6 acres.

In November of 1994, Ed Courtney was called to be co-pastor with Wally Williams. Bro. Williams continued his travels as an evangelist while Bro. Courtney operated the daily business of the church. As the church grew, a need for more space was realized and plans to build a new building on the property were considered. On Many 27, 1997, a tornado hit the existing church building that rendered it unusable. With the insurance money and a new loan, the church met in a local elementary school while they began to build the facility that we now enjoy.

In December 2001, Ed Courtney retired as senior pastor of Central Baptist Church. In April of 2002, Jeff Morrison was elected as the senior pastor with Wally Williams resigning in order to pursue full-time evangelism. Bro. Morrison brought the TEAMS concept of leadership and ministry to Central Baptist Church where he hopes to have years of fruitful ministry sevice. The city of Leander has grown up around Central, giving us many opportunities and great potential for the future.

Our Association

Central Baptist Church is an INDEPENDENT Baptist church which means that we have "organization withouth denomination". There is no board or governing body in another city, state or country that dictates our doctine, methodology, or vision. We are an autonomous, self-supported chuch that is dependent on the blessing of God, the power of hte Holy Spirit, and the good will of our members. We may associate with whomever we desire, and do so on the basis of like faith and practice.
